The following is a response to a question submitted from one of my talks.

____________

I do have a question if you have time to answer…

My friend is doing the Keto diet and he is on a pure protein diet and he eats mostly dairy and meats.  I am curious why he is able to reduce his cholesterol if he is consuming so much bad fats? This seems to go against what i understood from your talk.  If our bodies can only process 100mg of cholesterol then how can he able to reduce his when he is taking in so much of it?

Great Question, _______

There are several factors the could by at play here. For example; If he is trying to lose weight, eating less food and has a overall lower caloric intake that account for the misleading result. It is also important to note that the total cholesterol level doesn’t tell the whole story. You also have to look at the individual LDL, HDL, and ratio levels.

In 1961 the meat industry sponsored a study by Dr. Charles Mann where he contends that cholesterol levels do not influence health. Unable to prove his hypothesis on local people who consumed high amounts of cholesterol he turned to the East African tribe known as the Maasi. They were known for existing almost entirely on meat, blood and milk and were said to have low levels of cholesterol and cardiovascular disease.

They were sheepherders who drove their cattle at high altitudes up to 30 miles every day causing their coronary arteries to dilate to twice their normal size. Which accounts for their ability to pass a treadmill test. However, there was a second study of the Maasi Tribe the meat industry refused to publish. It showed that when autopsies were performed on members of the Maasi who died from accidental death, they found the most massive plaques in their arteries for there age ever seen.  When plaques break off (even small ones) they cause stroke or heart attack. Their enlarged coronary arteries only allow them pass treadmill test but not angiogram or autopsy. It turns out the sour milk they drink artificially reduces cholesterol in blood by forcing it directly into arteries.

Even thought knowing your lipid levels is very important it doesn’t necessarily tell the whole story. This clearly shows that they can even be misleading and doesn’t show the effects of blocked receptor sites or plaque build up in the arterial system. In fact nearly half of the people in this country who suffer heart attack or stroke have normal lipid levels. Part of this is due to the fact that the recommendations of the American Heart Association are simply too high and not based on any actual collected data. A good rule to go by is your total cholesterol level should be 100 plus your age and not over 160. It is also important to note that when we run a lipid panel at our office we don’t have people fast. Which is a much more accurate representation of your normal range. In fact many of my clients are able to show levels of around 160 midday after eating.

If you remember the story I told you about Adam, he had six pack abs and tested his body fat levels all of which were in optimal range. 17 minutes later he was dead. The cause of death was a heart attack caused by massive arterial sclerosis.  As Clark said during the talk “high fat keto type diets leave great looking corpses.”

I hope this helps,

Ty

The 21-Day Challenge

21 cd editMost of us can negotiate the idea of a 21-day challenge. Heck, it’s only 3 weeks, not even a whole month, but 21 days is enough time to break a habit and make a lifestyle change. Did you know that taste buds recycle every 21 days as well? Committing 21 days to health, leads to a lifetime of reform, as prior foods you ‘couldn’t do without’ become distant memories,

I have sat with thousands of people over the years, who behind the conciliatory nods as I promote the value of a healthy diet, cannot obscure what I know they are really thinking. Relieved to have the excuse of family, work commitment, children, and the big one – lack of time, they continue to grin nervously while scoping the nearest exit.

It is important to understand that your body does not crave foods out of its desire to look good or be healthy. Your body is simply designed to adapt and survive. If you have a nutritional gap you crave your habitual quickest fix. High fat, sugary foods are calorically dense but temporarily satiating, leading to the inevitable crash. They are the root cause of obesity, heart disease, diabetes and other diseases.

The problem is that if your daily routine consists of stopping by your local coffee shop to get your Triple Venti Caramel Macchiato Two Pump Extra Hot with Whip Cream and a Cheesecake Brownie, then when your energy level drops that is exactly what you will crave. Our bodies form habits quickly so when we fill the nutritional gaps during energy lapses with healthier foods, our bodies quickly crave those better choices. Poor diet is directly connected to energy levels; when lethargy kicks in we fill our faces in an attempt to alleviate symptoms, but what we really need is vitality only achievable through diet, exercise, and quality sleep.

I have not always eaten a healthy diet. In fact my diet was horrible. To justify it I would tell myself that I enjoy food way too much to limit myself the way those other people do. Since I changed my eating habits my diet has expanded greatly, and I can assure you that I enjoy my food infinitely more now than I ever did eating foods that were literally killing me.

Having said that, I understand that telling someone to just simply stop doing everything they are accustomed to, for the rest of their life is a lot to ask.

So let’s make it easy. Let’s focus on 21 days and don’t worry about the rest. As your energy increases, you lose weight, your mind clears, aches and pains disappear and you find yourself managing stress more easily. All you need is one small success to build on, and the rest will come naturally.

Lose Weight The Fast & Easy Way!

So, why another book on fitness, and more importantly, why another program? Aren’t there countless titles in the multi-billion dollar fitness industry that fit the bill? What makes this book, this program, so special?

These are all great questions to ask. Frankly, I’d be skeptical as well. These days, no matter where you turn, someone has the answer for a fat-free, muscular body. Americans are bombarded daily with dieting fads, miracle fat loss tips, and equipment that promises to make the pounds melt away in minutes-a-day. Unfortunately, thBook & Training Guiee opinions offered by your hair stylist, coworker, neighbor, or the self- proclaimed health experts you see hyping products on TV aren’t likely to help you achieve your fitness goals. Instead, you’ll probably end up feeling confused and frustrated with all the random, unsubstantiated, and often-conflicting information. This can make getting in shape seem impossible.
Recognizing there was a need for people to have a simple to understand guide to being fit, healthy, and pain free, I began writing this book, a project that I thought would take only few months to complete. That was over 10 years ago.

My original goal in writing this book was to put together a simple guide containing the necessary information people needed to help them sift through all the conflicting information about fitness. It turned into the only program in existence that combines fitness with anti-aging science, making it the perfect program for anyone who wants to turn back the aging clock, or have access to the ultimate sports performance protocol.

Within this book is the complete training guide I developed. It not only gives you a series of exercises, but also includes step-by-step life management practices that will make getting in shape, living a more balanced life, and turning back the aging clock easier than you ever imagined.

My approach doesn’t rely on a miracle diet, or a magic plant found only in the deserts of South Africa, or a celebrity-endorsed pill that makes body fat “disappear.” Instead, you will learn how to get the body you want and keep it through proper nutrition, cardiovascular exercise, weight training and a balanced lifestyle.

This program will help you modify your daily routine so that you can change your life. I have combined the knowledge gained from years of experience in the fitness industry and searched out the tools that really work. This program gives you the tools and support that you’ll need to achieve rapid results. And let’s face it, that’s what really keeps us all motivated: seeing and feeling the results!

Creating this book has been an enormous challenge and I am very excited to finally be sharing it with you. I am on a mission to help as many people as I possibly can with this program, and make it so that no ever has to be confused about how to simply live a healthy balanced life again.

For a limited time I am including with this book a FREE personal coaching session to help you get started. (regularly $130.00)

Were Roman Gladiators Vegetarian? The Protein Myth #2

Roman Gladiators Were Vegetarian!

The Protein Myth #2

One of the things I was surprised to learn was that ancient Romans, some of the greatest athletes and warriors in history were also vegetarian. Until recently we were led to believe that gladiators were fed the best meat in order to build their bodies and develop stamina that would help make them into fighting machines.

This theory was debunked by Austrian forensic anthropologists Dr. Fabian Kanz and Prof. Karl Grosschmidt, as a result of scientific research on the bones of gladiators. Results proved that the fighters were well fed, but not on the best red meat; but on vegetarian food that was rich in carbohydrates, Untitled-1such as barley, beans and dried fruits. In addition to this evidence it is also historically recorded that gladiators were nicknamed “hordearii”. This term literally means “barley eaters”. The Roman legions were aware of the power of barley to the point it could be said that its army marched on it. Our ancestors were aware that barley was good for them, although in those days it wasn’t called a super food. It was more of a case of knowing it was good but not knowing why. Today we know it as an incredible source of fiber, selenium, phosphorus, copper and manganese.

Why Everything Your Trainer Ever Told You Is Wrong!

Yea! 2013 is hear, and I am excited to let everyone know the book I have been working on for years is finally available, and here just in time to help everyone have a great year.

I’ve made some amazing discoveries over the last 30 years of studying with Martial Arts Masters, Fitness Guru’s, Motivational Coaches, and Medical Professionals, including experts in the field of Anti-Aging Medicine. And I’m sharing those discoveries in my book, titled “Why Everything Your Trainer Has Ever Told You Is Wrong”

Now I know the title makes a bold statement, and I stand by it, and I think after you read the book and see how I came to my conclusions you will not only agree, you will be telling your friends about it.

The fact is much of the information used to educate trainers and dietitians today is simply wrong. That’s not just my opinion; it’s a fact that it is supported in medical literature, which is made clear in my book.

Included the book is the complete training guide I developed and have used to help hundreds of people to look good, feel great, have abundant energy, and get back to living a pain free life.

My program has proven to be effective for everyone from professional athletes & celebrities, to housewives and corporate executives.

So no matter where you or someone you care about is coming from, this program has something that will help.

In 2013 am going to be on a mission to educate as many people as possible about the myths and misinformation surrounding your health and fitness, and to show you how getting in shape can be more fun and easier than you ever imagined.

The truth is, that unexplained weight gain, lack of motivation, and low energy you’ve been experiencing probably isn’t your fault. And the solution is much easier than you think.

The training guide includes things like:

  •  Great recipes & cooking instructions
  • How to order in restaurants
  •  How to make the perfect blended drink
  • My complete exercise program that’s based on muscle balancing techniques. (Which has been proven to be by far the fastest body toning routine I have ever seen) and best of all you can do it in less than 20 minutes.

It also covers the truth about training after 40…and don’t worry, there’s plenty of good news there.

As well as;

  • The role hormones play, and how to balance them naturally
  •  Self-motivation techniques, (that actually work.)

In closing I would like to let everyone know that my intention here is not to just sell a few books, it’s to start a movement,

and make it so no one ever has to be confused again about how to live a better, healthier life.

If you have any questions about this project, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

And don’t forget to click like and share this with your friends to help make 2013 a great year for them too.

Thanks.
